AL ATKINS' HOLY RAGE, LAUREN HARRIS, PRAYING MANTIS To Headline U.K.'s ROCK OF AGES Festival
February 3, 2009HOLY RAGE, the new band frontman by original JUDAS PRIEST singer Al Atkins, PRAYING MANTIS, Lauren Harris (daughter of IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris) and IMPERIA have been confirmed for the third Rock Of Ages festival, set to take place June 20-21 at the 2,000-capacity facility Barco 2 in Swansea, U.K.
The event, which will again be held indoor, will be bigger in scale than even Firefest. This will be the first festival that Lauren Harris has headlined, and it is fitting that it should happen in the U.K., and with a festival that has already boasted a link to MAIDEN after Blaze Bayley's appearance in 2007. Furthermore, HAWKWIND's Alan Davey will be featured on bass guitar for GUNSLINGER, appearing on day two of the event.
The event will again be raising funds for a cancer research charity, and tickets are on sale via the promoter Rock Of Ages Entertainment from February 28 and are on sale already via www.ticketweb.co.uk at a special early-bird price of just £5 (single day) and £10 (all weekend). Regular ticket prices (£10/£20) apply after April 20, and prices are higher on the door.

Previous headliners of the event have included TYGERS OF PAN TANG, GIRLSCHOOL, WAYSTED, BLITZKRIEG (who went on to play Hard Rock Hell) as well as formerIRON MAIDEN vocalist Blaze Bayley. 2007's Rock Of Ages festival, held at the 500-capacity The Palace in Tamworth, also featured the official WOLFSBANE reunion and incredible Frontiers Records signing DANTE FOX.
This is going to be a great year for the event organizers, who have seen a number of avenues open to them which will enable further development of the event in 2009 and 2010, and the festival is hoping to have three stages by 2010, and an increased capacity. Rock Of Ages Entertainment are also aiming to extend activities to Western Canada in 2011, and Los Angeles in 2012, a development that has already been 12 months in the planning and which is beginning to bear fruit.
